As Jackson posed a series of questions, parishioners raised their hands. Did anyone have a family member with cancer? A relative in jail or on probation? Troubles with racial discrimination? But when he asked who had a family member "marry somebody of the same sex," no one raised a hand.[The Seattle Times]
"Well then how did that get into the middle of the agenda?" he asked amid ripples of laughter. "If your issues are cancer and Medicare and education and jobs and Social Security and decent housing, then how did someone else put their agenda in the front of the line?"
Bush will continue to try to divert attention from his miserable record of failure and patronage. He attacks his opponents for any failings they might seemingly share with him, whether it's not being around enough (Kerry and Edwards missing votes vs. the President being on vacation while America is at war) or mixed messages on the war (Kerry's quotes taken out of context vs. the Presidents failure to fund, plan, or manage the war effort).
Americans are rather smart. Does the President really labor under the mistaken impression that we won't notice his failures? What kind of idiots does he take us for?
